VIRUDDHA AHARA: AN AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE ON INCOMPATIBLE FOODS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE IN DISEASE MANIFESTATION
Ankur Mishra*, Sugandh Kaul, Tanu Jangir and Riddhi Saini
ABSTRACT According to Ayurveda, the human body is like a building; just as a building needs pillars to be stable, the human body too needs three pillars. Ahara (diet), Nidra (sleep), and Brahmacharya (celibacy). This list places Ahara first, indicating how important it is. Regarding the notion of ahara, the Acharyas have discussed several aharavidhi, and viruddhaahara is the primary ahara when it comes to abstaining from food. Ahar that is consumed in an incorrect quantity, or without Yukti, throws off the body's elemental equilibrium and is referred to as Viruddha ahar.[1] Viruddha Ahara can result by eating the wrong food in the wrong mix, from the improper preparation, in the wrong dosage, at the wrong time of day, or in the wrong season. Various Acharyas have explained that every kind of viruddha vitiates the dosha, dushya, and vyadhi. Therefore, an attempt has been made to investigate the idea of viruddhaahara, the various varieties of it that are referenced in the Samhitas, and their significance in the disease's expression.[2] Keywords: .
