GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY – MASS SPECTROMETRY (GC-MS) ANALYSIS OF ETHANOL ROOT EXTRACT OF ABROMA AUGUSTA
Khushboo Lokhande* and Arun Kakkar
ABSTRACT Medicinal plants have a huge impact on current research since they are used both directly and indirectly by the pharmaceutical industry to produce pharmacological chemicals. A medicinal plant that provides a variety of compounds is Abroma augusta. It is an important plant having sources for many chemicals used as pharmaceutical chemicals. Present study is based on identification of possible bioactive compounds from root of Abroma augusta in ethanol solvent system by using Gas chromatography and Mass spectrometry. Fourteen compounds were identified from the root of Abroma augusta. The prevailing compounds in the ethanol extract of root of Abroma augusta were Acetic acid, phenyl methyl ester [1.18 %], Benzoic acid, ethyl ester [5.64%],1,1'-Biphenyl, 4-methyl- [1.64%], 2-(4,5-Dihydro-3-methyl-5-oxo-1-phenyl-4-pyrazolyl)-5-nitrobenzoicacid [2.27%], Diacetamide [2.55%], Ethanol,2-propoxy-[3.18%], Guanidine(4-aminobutyl) [2.25%], (2Bromoethoxy)methyl)benzene [0.22%], 2,3-Epoxyhexanol [1.54%], Benzoic acid [73.33%], Biphenyl [1.15%], n-hexadecanoic acid [0.77%], 13-Tetradece-11-yn-1-ol [0.62%], hexadecane,1-chloro[0.90%]. The compounds identified through the GC-MS analysis were used in various medicinal properties as antifungal, antioxidant, antibacterial and hypoglycemic effects. Keywords: Abroma augusta, Phytochemicals, roots, ethanol extract, GC-MS analysis. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
