IDENTIFICATION AND ANALYSIS OF PHYTOCONSTITUENTS IN THE ETHANOLIC FLOWER EXTRACT OF BUTEA SUPERBA (ROXB) BY USING GC-MS TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT Objective: All over the world relies mainly on herbal plants and their extracts for human health care. Herbal plants have great nutritive properties, lower side effects and less expensive. Investigation of the bioactive compounds from the ethanol extract of Butea superba flower extract through GC-MS analysis. Methods: In the present study, the ethanolic flower extract of Butea superba was analyzed for various phytoconstituents by using GC-MS techniques. Results: The ethanolic flower extract of B. superba revealed that the phytoconstituents such as (1R)-2,6,6-Trimethylbicyclo [3.1.1]hept-2-ene, Bicyclo [3.1.0]hexane, 4-methylene-1-(1-methylethyl)-, Bicyclo [3.1.1]heptane, 6,6-dimethyl-2-methylene-, (1S)-, Dihydrocarvyl acetate, (+)-4-Carene, Caryophyllene, Apiol, Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester, Pentadecanoic acid, 14-methyl-, methyl ester, Eicosane respectively. Conclusion: From the results, it is evident that ethanolic flower extract of Butea superba contains various phytoconstituents and is recommended as a plant of phytopharmaceutical importance.
