ABSTRACT Accurate analytical techniques are necessary for pharmaceutical applications and quality monitoring of metformin, a crucial vitamin B6 derivative. This study attempts to compile previous studies on the spectroscopic assessment of metformin using the Fourier Transform infra rays (FIR) spectroscopy. The concepts, benefits, and drawbacks of various methods for figuring out the molecular makeup, concentration, and purity of metformin are covered in the study. While FTIR spectroscopy offers important insights into the molecular vibrations and functional group analysis of metformin, several studies show that UV spectroscopy is effective in identifying the drug'sdistinctive absorption peaks. Along with highlighting method validation factors including linearity, sensitivity, and specificity, the review also contrasts the findings with those of other analytical approaches. Keywords: .
