UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF CANNA INDICA LINN: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF ITS PHYTOCHEMICAL, PHARMACOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATION

ABSTRACT Canna indica linn, a perennial plant species, has been traditionally valued for it’s ornamental, medicinal and ecological significance. This review aims to comprehensively summarize the botanical characteristics, phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activity of C. indica. The different parts of plants have been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant property, supporting its use in traditional medicine. Additionally, C. indica has been utilized in wetland restoration and erosion control due to its robust growth habits. This review highlights the plant potential as a valuable resource for pharmaceutical, horticultural, and environmental application, and underscores the need for further research to fully explore its benefits and application.
