According to the commonly accepted definition provided by the International Association for the Study of Pain, pain is an unpleasant emotional and sensory experience connected to or characterized by existing or probable tissue damage.[1] Sleep, mood/mental health, cardiovascular health, sexual function, cognitive functions, brain function, and general quality of life are all adversely affected by untreated pain.[2]
