INNOVATIVE TEACHING PEDAGOGIES IN PHARMACY PRACTICE EDUCATION: A REVIEW
Dr. Shamna M. S.*
ABSTRACT Pharmacy Practice education is undergoing a paradigm shift worldwide to meet the evolving healthcare demands. Traditional lecture-based teaching, though valuable, is insufficient to develop the critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and patient-centered skills required of today's pharmacists. This review explores innovative teaching pedagogies such as case-based learning, problem-based learning, simulation-based teaching, flipped classrooms, and role-play models applied specifically to Pharmacy Practice education. The impact of these methods on student engagement, knowledge retention, and professional skill development is critically analyzed. Additionally, the review highlights assessment techniques aligned with active learning strategies and discusses challenges in implementing pedagogical innovations in Pharmacy Practice curriculum. The need for an integrated, flexible, and competency-driven teaching approach is emphasized to prepare pharmacy graduates for clinical and community healthcare settings.[1] Keywords: Pharmacy Practice, Teaching Pedagogy, Case-Based Learning, Simulation, Active Learning, Pharmacy Education.
