Dr. G. N. Pramodini*, Akshaya S. and Jesvy Joby
ABSTRACT The pagoda flower (Clerodendrum paniculatum L.), which belongs to the Verbenaceae family's Clerodendrum genus, is found in many parts of Asia, Africa, America, and Australia. Known as the "Red Pagoda plant," this semi-woody shrub grows naturally in India's shaded regions and can grow up to 1-2 meters in height. Because of its therapeutic qualities, which include treating inflammation, ulcers, rheumatism, neuralgia, and wound healing, it has long been used in traditional medicine in nations like China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and India. The presence of several bioactive substances, such as terpenes, flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, phenolic acids, sterols, and glycosides, is revealed by phytochemical examination of the plant and may be a factor in its therapeutic effectiveness. This paper highlights the significance of C. paniculatum in the realm of ethnomedicine by summarizing its traditional usage, phytochemical ingredients, andpossible therapeutic applications. Keywords: Clerodendrum paniculatum, pharmacological activity. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
