ABSTRACT High blood pressure (HBP) is the number one risk factor for disease burden globally. In India HBP has become a leading cause of death.[1] Several studies have reported increasing prevalence of hypertension in the country. Kearney et al.[2,4] projected that the number of hypertensives in India would go up from 118 million in 2000 to 213. 5 million by 2025.[5] A recent systematic review found high prevalence of hypertension along with low awareness, treatment and control in India.[6] Keywords: .
