PROBABLE SERONEGATIVE NMDA RECEPTOR ENCEPHALITIS: A DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC CHALLENGE
*Lakshmi, Navya P. and Dr. Akhila Ann Cherian
ABSTRACT NMDA receptor encephalitis is an autoimmune neurological disorder characterized by neuropsychiatric symptoms, cognitive dysfunction, and autonomic instability. While seropositive cases are well-documented, seronegative presentations pose a diagnostic dilemma. This case report describes a probable seronegative NMDA receptor encephalitis in a 9 year old girl who exhibited classical symptoms but tested negative for anti-NMDA receptor antibodies. This report highlights the challenges in diagnosing and managing seronegative cases, emphasizing the importance of clinical suspicion and early immunotherapy. Keywords: NMDA receptor encephalitis, Seronegative, Diagnostic challenge, Immunotherapy. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
