Abstract

EXPLORING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MAYAPHAL TAIL YONI PICHU AND UDUMBARA TAIL YONI PICHU IN TREATING YONISHAITHILYA (PERINEAL LAXITY): A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT

Background: Yonishailthiya is the most common and distressing condition of women of modern era which is self-neglected due to shame and hesitation and will remain untreated leading to symptoms like something coming out per vaginum, heaviness in genital region, micturition disturbances, dyspareunia, backache, lack of sexual desire, etc. Aim and Objective: To assess the effect of mayaphal tail yoni pichu in comparison with udumbara tail yoni pichu in the management of yonishaithilya (perineal laxity). Materials and Methods: A total of 50 patients of yonishaithilya were selected and randomly allocated into two groups (25 in each group). Group A were treated with mayaphal tail yoni pichu and Group B were treated with udumbara tail yoni pichu. In both the groups, yoni pichu was applied at night after voiding of bladder for total duration of 60 days i.e., for every 15 days after clearance of menses for 4 consecutive menstrual cycles. Result: Thecured, improved and partially improved rate for group A was 36%,48% and 16% respectively while that of group B, it was 20%,28% and 28% respectively. On comparison between both the groups A and B, the statistical differences were found significant. Conclusion: The present study proved that Mayaphala and Udumbara are powerful herbs proved effective in managing yonishaithilya. Both drugs are free from any adverse effect and 60 days of application gives significant relief from the signs and symptoms of yonishaithilya. But Mayaphal tail yoni pichu(Group A) showed slightly better results than Udumbara taila yoni pichu (Group B).
