ABSTRACT

The gut-brain axis is a sophisticated communication mechanism that regulates overall health and well-being. Recent research indicates that the gut micro biome plays an important role in this communication system, and that gut micro biome abnormalities can contribute to the development and progression of neurological diseases. This narrative review provides an overview of the gut-brain axis, encompassing gut micro biome roles, functions and components, as well as gut brain communication networks. The gut micro biota is commonly thought to control neurodevelopment via three pathways: immune, endocrine, and neurological system. The micro biota-gut-brain axis plays a role in neurodevelopment disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington's disease, metabolic diseases. This study includes various gut directed therapies using probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics, as well as fecaltransplantation. This study also includes various gut directed therapies using probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics, as well as fecal transplantation. This review provides dietary interventions such as ketogenic diet, gut micro biota and Alzheimer’s disease, vegetarian, Mediterranean, low -protein –high carbohydrate diet, gut micro biota in Parkinson’s disease, western diet, gut micro biota and neuroinflammation.

Keywords: Gut- brain-axis, Neurodegenerative disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, Multiple sclerosis, Hungtington’s disease, Probiotics, Prebiotics, Synbiotics, Antibiotics, Immune pathway, endocrine pathway, nervous system Microbial Metabolite
