ABSTRACT

Hypertension is a critical consequence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), significantly exacerbating disease progression and elevating cardiovascular risk. Efficient regulation of blood pressure is crucial for decelerating the advancement of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and averting related consequences. This research examines the biology, epidemiology, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches for hypertension in chronic renal illness, highlighting both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Calcium channel blockers, RAAS inhibitors, and more recent meds like SGLT2 inhibitors are among the most popular treatments. Lifestyle adjustments, such as dietary salt reduction, weight management, and consistent physical activity, are essential for blood pressure stabilization. Blood pressure targets continue to be contentious, with existing recommendations advocating for personalized therapeuticobjectives contingent upon proteinuria levels, cardiovascular risk, and renal function. Notwithstanding considerable progress, treatment-resistant hypertension continues to pose a problem, often requiring combination therapy and, in some instances, surgical treatments. The significance of ambulatory and home blood pressure monitoring in enhancing treatment results has been increasing. A multidisciplinary strategy including nephrologists, cardiologists, and primary care doctors is essential for providing complete therapy to patients with hypertension related to chronic kidney disease (CKD). Subsequent research need to concentrate on precision medicine approaches, innovative treatment agents, and measures to enhance patient compliance. Mitigating healthcare inequities and augmenting treatment accessibility will be essential for boosting long-term outcomes for CKD patients.
