ACHIEVING MENTAL HARMONY: THE FIVE PILLARS OF AYURVEDIC WELLNESS

ABSTRACT Health is defined as balance of Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual wellbeing. Every person can lead a healthy life by following the certain rules and regulations mentioned in the Ayurveda. Ayurveda is indegnius medicine system which helps our ancestors to live a long healthy life but with the time we forget their gifts and started following a unhealthy lifestyle which leads towards a shorten life, critical diseases like heart failure, insomnia, depression and also dis balanced our mental peace. These various rules are divided into Dincharya (A daily regimen), Ritucharya (Seasonal routine), Sadvritta (Code of good conduct for mental health and social behavior), Nidra and Yoga. These Five pillars of Ayurveda is more effective in present era as ranking of corruption, crime, terrorism, tendency of suicide, violent behaviour, friction in families, decreased human values, etc. have increased, as well as, there seems no chance for improvement in its present situation. These gives the detail knowledge about “what to do?” What should not to do?” and also “how to live?” Following the codes of right conduct described in Ayurveda is highly effective in reducing the life style disorders and helps to live healthy life.
