A REVIEW ON ROLE OF VITAMINS AS ADJUNCTIVE THERAPY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF FEVER IN INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Naveena Ganji*, Pasi Nandini, Janni Sriram and Chennupati Venkata Suresh
ABSTRACT Fever is a frequent physiological response defined by an increase in body temperature, usually above the normal range of 36.1-37.2°C, caused by the resetting of the hypothalamic thermoregulatory region. It is frequently a sign of underlying infections or inflammatory processes, serving as a defence strategy to boost immune responses to pathogens.Fever can be divided into numerous forms based on its length andpattern, including intermittent, remittent, chronic, and relapsing fever, which are frequently associated with specific clinical disorders.Multivitamin intake is important in the context of infectious disordersbecause it supports immune function and helps to manage fever.Vitamins C, D, and E, as well as important minerals like zinc andselenium, are critical for improving immune responses and reducingoxidative stress produced by infections. Clinical studies have shownthat taking multivitamins helps lower the severity and duration of feverand other symptoms associated with viral and bacterial illnesses.Furthermore, multivitamins function as an adjuvant therapy, complementing traditionaltreatments by boosting speedier healing and increasing overall patient outcomes.
