REVOLUTIONIZING DRUG DELIVERY: EMERGING TRENDS IN SUSTAINED RELEASE FORMULATIONS A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

The most effective and widely used internal route of pharmaceuticaladministration is still oral medicine delivery. Another acceptablechoice for limiting a drug's side effects and enhancing its therapeuticpotency is a sustained release. Over the past three decades, there hasbeen a greater emphasis on developing sustained or controlled releasedrug delivery systems (DDS) due to the increased expenses andcomplications of marketing new drugs and the recognition of theirtherapeutic benefits. Many disease situations already have a largenumber of therapeutically useful chemicals. How effective are theseDrugs are frequently restricted by side effects or the need to give thesubstance in an ethical context. The absorption mechanism has littleeffect on the medications' sustained release in the gastrointestinalsystem after oral delivery.
