ABSTRACT The advent of nanotechnology over the past few decades has established the development and design of nanomaterials as a significant area of research. A notable aspect of this domain is nanomedicine, which involves the creation of nanoscale materials intended for applications such as imaging agents and drug delivery systems. Current research efforts are primarily directed towards the synthesis of precisely defined nanomaterials with respect to their size and shape, as these parameters critically influence the behavior of nanomaterials in vivo. This review aims to explore the various methodologies available for the fabrication of polymeric nanoparticles. Furthermore, the review also addresses the characterization methods applicable to this category of nanoparticles. The field of nanomedicine has experienced remarkable advancements through the utilization of nanoscale materials. Polymeric nanoparticles have become prominent in the realm of controlled drug delivery, serving as effective carriers for therapeutic agents. A comprehensive array of techniques for the preparation and characterization of polymeric nanoparticles is outlined. Keywords: Polymeric nanoparticles, Nanomedicine, Drug delivery.
