Abstract

A NEW SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR ANALYZING PERINDOPRIL BY FORMING A COLORED COMPLEX WITH THE ORGANIC REAGENT C2R AND STUDYING ITS PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS AND BIOAVAILABILITY

Malek Okdeh* Mohammad Haroun and Mohammad Obeid

ABSTRACT

This research is concerned with reviewing an analytical method for the drug Perindopril in its pure form, which was complexed with the organic reagent (C2R), which is, the dye was synthesized according to the diazotization reaction where the aromatic amine, which is aniline, was diazotized, the organic compound (C2R) was complexed with Perindopril and the spectral scanning process was carried out for the product of the complexation reaction. The results showed that the maximum wavelength of the drug is at (220nm), while the maximum wavelength of the organic reagent is (510nm), and the maximum wavelength of the reaction of the reagent (C2R) with Perindopril is in the vicinity of (580nm). The linear series for the analysis of the drug Perindopril in spectrophotometry falls within the range of (0.01-0.033) mg/ml and is characterized by a close correlation coefficient and its value is (R² = 0.9992) and is subject to the equation of a straight line ofthe first degree (y = 27.655X-0.0272). The amount released in all studied tablets after 30 minutes from the start of the test is not less than 80% of the amount of Perindopril labeled on the tablets. Therefore it is acceptable according to the British pharmacopoeia.

Keywords: Perindopril, organic reagent, complexation, bioavailability, dissolution test.
