ABSTRACT Lollipops, or lozenges, are flavored medicated dosage forms designed to be sucked, delivering local or systemic effects through the buccal mucosa. These dosage forms offer advantages such as improved bioavailability, reduced dose size, decreased gastric irritation, and bypassing first-pass metabolism. The current study focuses on the development of riboflavin (vitamin B2)-containing lollipops, intended for the treatment of mouth ulcers. The lollipops were prepared using the heating and congealing method with a sucrose base. Preformulation studies, including physical observations. Demonstrated no significant interactions between the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and the excipients. The final formulations, which included polymers such as agar, CMC, and HPMC, were evaluated for various physicochemical parameters and drug release profiles. Among the batches, formulation F2 exhibited 99.45% riboflavin release within 30 minutes. This formulation shows potential as an effective and patient-friendly treatment for mouth ulcers.
