ABSTRACT

Endometriosis is a complex gynecological disorder characterized by endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, affecting approximately 10% of women worldwide and a significant portion of those with infertility. Conventional treatments often fall short of providing long-term relief, thus encouraging exploration of alternative approaches. This study investigates Ayurvedic management of endometriosis through a holistic tridoshic approach, addressing the underlying imbalances in Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas. In Ayurveda, endometriosis is identified with Vataja Yonivyapada due to characteristic pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea, while Kapha contributes to tissue proliferation and Pitta to inflammatory processes. The Ayurvedic framework considers poor dietary and lifestyle habits, environmental toxins, and stress as contributing factors that compromise Rasa Dhatu, leading to Ama (toxins) accumulation and Shrotorodha (blockage) in the reproductive channels. Therapeutic interventions in the study included Guggulu Tikhta Kashyam, Punarnavaasava, Maha Narayana Taila, and Guggulupanchaplam, each targeting inflammation, tissue buildup, and Vata- Kapha imbalances. Additionally, Uttarbasti with Shatapushpa Taila was administered, emphasizing its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to address adhesions, enhance pelvic circulation, and relieve chronic pain. Case studies showed marked symptom improvement and cyst resolution in ultrasonographic evaluations, suggesting the efficacy of Ayurvedic protocols in managing endometriosis. These findings advocate for a balanced tridoshic approach, supported by dietary and lifestyle modifications, offering an integrative pathway for endometriosis care.
