THE ACTIVITY OF MORINGA LEAVES ON ANTIBODY TITER, TOTAL LEUKOCYTE CELLS AND PERCENTAGE OF MICE LEUKOCYTE CELL TYPES

ABSTRACT

Objective: This study has been carried out on the effect of ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera Lam leaves on increasing antibodies in male white mice induced with H5N1 antigen using the antibody titer method, number and percentage of leukocyte cell types. In this study, 8 groups were used who were given Moringa leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 0.5% Na CMC and the H5N1 vaccine. The preparation is administered orally for 8, 11 and 14 days. On days 9, 12, 15, the antibody titer, number and percentage of leukocyte cell types are determined. Methods: the animals were induced with the H5N1 antigen, then given Moringa leaf extract using various administration methods. ethanol extract is administered orally. the antibody titer, number and percentage of leukocyte cell types are determined.Results: The results of the research showed that Moringa leaf extract could increase the antibodies of male white mice with the antibody titer in the antigen + extract + Na CMC0.5% group for 14 days being 3.2 IU/mL; antigen + extract group for 14 days was 6.8; antigen + extract group for 8 days was 3.6 IU/mL; group antigen + extract + Na CMC 0.5% for 8 days was 2.8 IU/mL; antigen + extract group for 11 days was 3.8 IU/mL; antigen + extract + Na CMC 0.5% group for 11 days was 3 IU/mL; antigen + 0.5% NaCMC group during 14 days is 2 IU/mL and Na CMC group 0.5% during 14 days is 1 IU/mL. Conclusion: Moringa leaf extract for 14 days can increase antibody titers, the number and percentage of leukocyte cell types (segment neutrophils, stem neutrophils and lymphocyte cells) in male white mice.
