ABSTRACT The rise of antimicrobial resistance poses a major challenge in treating infectious diseases. One potential alternative is the use of plant extracts with antibacterial properties, including pink chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium), which contains flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins with antibacterial activity. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of pink chrysanthemum ethanol extract against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and to determine its effective concentration using the disk diffusion method. This experimental laboratory study tested ethanol extracts at concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, and 50%. Antibacterial activity was assessed by measuring the diameter of inhibition zones. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The extract demonstrated antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli at all tested concentrations. The 50% concentration produced the largest inhibition zones against S. aureus (11.57mm) and E. coli (12.10mm). Statistical analysis indicated significant differences among concentrations (p<0.05). The ethanol extract of pink chrysanthemum exhibits potential as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, with increased efficacy at higher concentrations. This study supports the development of pink chrysanthemum as an alternative therapy for bacterial infections.
