ABSTRACT

Viruddha Ahara i.e. unwholesome diet is a unique and importantconcept described in Ayurveda. Viruddha Ahara refers to foodincompatibility including interaction betwee n different types of foodwhich disturb the homeostasis of body leading to various diseasesespecially skin disorders. In classical text description of different typesof Viruddha Ahara is available like Samskara Viruddha, SamyogaViruddha, V i rya Viruddha etc. In skin diseases, Viruddha Ahara isconsidered as one of the prime factors for causing the disease andamongst all the Viruddha Ahara, V i rya Viruddha is considered as themain cause. Viruddha Ahara have potential to triggers the pathogenesisof severa l diseases including Visarpa, intoxication, Shukra DhatuDushti, rhinitis, infertility, Kustha roga and allergic disorders, etc. thisarticle explore the role of Viruddha Ahara in skin disorder.
