ABSTRACT

Rational drug use (RDU) is the system of prescribing, dispensing the drugs appropriately with the intent to diagnose, prevent, and treat the diseases. It also includes the safe, effective, and economical ordering of drugs for the optimal benefit of the patient.[1] In the developing country like India, many factors like illiteracy, poverty, sale of prescription drugs without prescription, competition among the medical and pharmaceutical professionals and scarcity of drug information leads to irrational drug use affecting the patient care.[2]
