A REVIEW OF TELEPHARMACY IN CLINICAL PRACTICE: ENHANCING MEDICATION ACCESS AND MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT Telepharmacy is an innovative healthcare model that uses telecommunications and digital technologies to provide pharmacy services remotely, enhancing medication access and management. This review explores the role of telepharmacy in clinical practice, highlighting its impact on improving patient care, medication adherence, and healthcare delivery. It examines the various telepharmacy services, including medication counseling, prescription verification, drug therapy monitoring, and patient education, especially in underserved and rural areas with limited access to pharmacists. The article discusses the benefits of telepharmacy, such as reducing medication errors, providing timely pharmaceutical services, andincreasing the availability of specialized pharmacy consultations. Challenges are also addressed, including technological barriers, regulatory concerns, and the need for appropriate training and infrastructure. The review concludes that telepharmacy holds significant potential to enhance medication management, optimize therapeutic outcomes, and increase patient satisfaction while improving the efficiency of healthcare systems. Future research and policy adjustments are necessary to ensure the effective integration of telepharmacy into mainstream clinical practice.
