ABSTRACT

The concept of nutraceuticals, combining ―nutrition‖ and ―pharmaceuticals,‖ has emerged as a promising solution to bridge the gap between food and medicine. Nutraceuticals are foods or food-derived products that provide additional health benefits beyond basic nutrition, contributing to the prevention and treatment of diseases. This article delves into the history, classification, therapeutic applications, challenges, global market trends, and future directions of nutraceuticals. Their role in managing chronic diseases like cardiovascular disorders, cancer, diabetes, and cognitive health is emphasized, along with the technological advancements in their formulation. Although nutraceuticals hold immense potential, challenges related to regulation, standardization, and bioavailability must be addressed to unlock their full utility.
