NANOCRYSTALS- THE MINIATURE MARVELS OF NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS
Chetana Eknure, Ruchita Tayade and Sneha Thattekar
ABSTRACT Nanocrystals represent a significant advancement in pharmaceutical technology, offering improved drug delivery, efficacy, and reduced toxicity. Nanocrystals have emerged as a transformative pharmaceutical technology, offering enhanced drug delivery, improved efficacy, and reduced toxicity. The review provides a comprehensive overview of nanocrystals' development, applications, and future directions in pharmaceuticals. Nanocrystals are particularly beneficial for enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs, thereby improving therapeutic outcomes. The synthesis and characterization of nanocrystals, their functionalization and surface modification, and their applications in drug delivery, imaging, and diagnostics are also highlighted. The review also addresses the challenges and limitations of nanocrystal technology, includingscalability, stability, and regulatory considerations. Furthermore, the potential of nanocrystals in targeted drug delivery, gene therapy, cancer treatment, and vaccine development is discussed, emphasizing their capacity for precise and controlled release of therapeutic agents. Looking ahead, it highlights potential future directions, including the integration of nanocrystals with emerging technologies and their capacity to meet unmet medical needs. The review offers an in-depth analysis of recent developments and future possibilities, seeking to clarify the profound influence of nanocrystals on the pharmaceutical sector. Despite existing challenges, the continued evolution of nanocrystal technology is poised to revolutionize the pharmaceutical landscape, offering new hope for addressing unmet medical needs and improving patient care.
