A REVIEW ON EXPIRY OF DRUG PRODUCTS AND ROLE OF PHARMACIST

ABSTRACT The drug expire means, the medication may not be safe or effective to use after the printed date on its packaging. This is because its ingredients might have degraded or changed over time, making it less potent or potentially harmful. It's important to dispose of expired drugs properly and not to use them. Expired drug products refer to medications that have passed their labeled expiration date. The expiration date signifies the time until which the manufacturer guarantees the full potency and safety of the drug when stored correctly. After this date, the drug may lose effectiveness, pose safety risks, or undergo chemical degradation that could result in harmful by-products. The issue of expired drugs is crucial in clinical practice, and pharmacists play a key role in managing and educating patients about expired medications.
