SOLUBILITY ENHANCEMENT TECHNIQUES OF ORODISPERSIBLE FILMS: AN OVERVIEW
*P. Parvathy Devi, Siya Elizabeth Johnson, Aleena Biju and Gijo Jacob
ABSTRACT Solubility is the process by which a solid dissolves in a liquid phase resulting in a homogeneous mixture. For a medicine to have a pharmacological effect, it must dissolve sufficiently in the circulation. The inability of the novel therapeutic molecule to dissolve in water is the main formulation challenges. After oral administration, high dosages of poorly soluble medications are needed to reach the maximal therapeutic plasma concentration. Compounds are categorized using the biopharmaceutical categorization system (BCS) according to their solubility and permeability.[1] Pharmacological methods of improving bioavailability are far less expensive than chemical methods, which also take longer. Consequently, a number of methods are being developed to improve solubility. Every methodology offers a numberof benefits and drawbacks. Many experimenters are trying to come up with better ways to deal with the shortcomings of conventional approaches.[2] Keywords: Oro dispersible film, Solubility enhancement, poorly soluble drugs.
