EFFECT OF PIPERINE ON PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIONS OF METFORMIN AND VILDAGLIPTIN IN CHEMICAL INDUCED DIABETIC RATS

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is the mostprevalent metabolic disorder of currenttime . Piperine, the main constituents of Piper nigrum is widely used inalternative and bio enhancing property. In this research work weevaluated the bio enhancing effect of piperin e with Vildagliptin andMetformin in lowering blood glucose levels in alloxan induceddiabetic rats . Piperine was collected from Amsar sales.Alloxan induced (150 mg/kg /ip ) diabetic mice were divided into fivegroups. Group I (control 2% gum acacia), Group II Alloxan , Gr III(metformin 15 0 mg/kg), Group I V (metformin piperine 1 50 mg/kg +10 mg/kg), and Group V Vildagliptin 1 0 mg/kg) kg), Group VI( Piperine (1 0 mg/kg+ 10 mg/kg ), All the drugs wereadministered orally once daily for 14 days. Blo od glucose levels wereestimated at day 0 day 14Results: The combination of piperine with therapeutic dose ofmetformin showed significantly more reduction of blood glucose level as compared tometformin and vildagliptin alone
