ISOLATION AND PRODUCTION OF AMYLASE AND PROTEASE PRODUCING BACTERIA FROM SOIL AND ITS APPLICATION

ABSTRACT

This work focused on the isolation and characterization of enzyme- producing bacteria from soil and its applications. Soil samples were taken from six places and they were characterized to synthesise bacteria. The bacteria identified show nil production of lipase enzyme. Amylase enzyme and protease were produced from the bacteria. Characterisation of bacteria isolated from soil isolates was conducted using Gram’s staining method. Production of enzymes such as amylase and protease were optimized by considering several parameters. Enzyme-producing bacteria from soil, particularly those producing protease and amylase, provide a natural and eco-friendly solution for acid desizing.
