SOLUBILITY ENHANCEMENT OF AZILSARTAN MEDOXOMIL BY USING SOLID DISPERSION, COMPLEXATION AND SELF EMULSIFICATION TECHNIQUES
Vishal Baliyan* and Dheeraj Kumar Vishwakrma
ABSTRACT This study explores various techniques to enhance the solubility of Azilsartan Medoxomil, a poorly water-soluble drug. Solid dispersion methods (solvent evaporation, fusion, spray drying) improved solubility 5–10 times and increased drug release to 85% in 30 minutes. β-Cyclodextrin complexation further enhanced solubility and stability at a 1:3 ratio, confirmed by FTIR and XRD studies. Additionally, Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery Systems (SEDDS) using surfactants formed stable nanoemulsions, improving dissolution and bioavailability. Comprehensive evaluations confirmed the stability and enhanced solubility of these formulations, suggesting their potential for hypertension treatment.
