FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF TRIDAX PROCUMBEN LINN EMULGEL FOR THE TREATMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS
Shital V. Narale*, Vaishnavi R. Akade and Mangesh S. Khillare
ABSTRACT Oil-in-water or oil-in-oil emulsions that have been combined with a gelling agent to form emulgels have been gelled. The emulsion also serves as a controlled release medication delivery system, in which drug particles trapped in the internal phase gradually soak into the skin after travelling through the exterior phase to get there. In millions of individuals throughout the world, osteoarthritis is the most prevalent kind of arthritis. The protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones begins to deteriorate over time, which is when it happens. Though osteoarthritis may harm any joint, it most frequently affects the hands, knees, hips, and spine. Osteoarthritis is treated using a variety of dose forms, such as creams, lotions, ointments, gels, and emulsions. However, the main drawbacks of gel formulations are thedelivery of primarily hydrophilic medicines and the need for dosage repetition; emulgel is created to address these issues. Emulgel has several benefits, including being clear, emollient, non-staining, greaseless, easy to distribute, and easy to remove. It also has good skin penetration and a long shelf life. Tridax Procumben L. is a plant that exhibits a wide range of qualities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-bacterial, anti-plasmodial, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-oxidant, anti-antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and anti-cancerous.
