SYNTHESIS AND ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES OF ZINC OXIDE NANOPARTICLE AN APPROACH FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATION
Sajan Jose, Swapna Paul*, Jisna Jose, Deepa K. S., Archana Babu and Johnson Joseph
ABSTRACT Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) have emerged as a promising tool in biomedical applications due to their unique physicochemical properties, biocompatibility, and antimicrobial activity. With a wide range of applications in fields such as biosensors, nanomedicine, and bio-nanotechnology, ZnO NPs have shown potential in treating various diseases, including multidrug-resistant infections. The antibacterial activity of ZnO NPs is attributed to their ability to generate reactive oxygen species, release zinc ions, and interact with bacterial cell walls, ultimately leading to cell death. The use of ZnO NPs as antibacterial agents offers a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics, and their biocompatibility makes them an attractive option for biomedical applications. This abstract provides an overview of the synthesis, properties, and applications of ZnO NPs, highlighting their potential in revolutionizing the field of biomedicine. Keywords: Biomedicine, Nanoscale size, Free radicals, Reactive oxygen species, Versatility. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
