Abstract

SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL EVALUATION OF CHALCONE-DERIVED PYRAZOLINES: EXPLORING PROMISING COMPOUNDS FOR MULTIDRUG-RESISTANT PATHOGENS

Ravindra V. Jiyani* and Viral R. Shah

ABSTRACT

This study reports the synthesis of novel chalcone derivatives, which were subsequently modified to form pyrazoline compounds. These new compounds were characterized using ¹H NMR, mass spectrometry, and FT-IR spectroscopy, confirming their structural integrity. The antimicrobial activities of the synthesized pyrazolines were evaluated through in vitro assays, revealing significant antibacterial and antifungal properties. Notably, the compounds BCB-R1-2-CF3, BCB-R1-4-Cl, BCB-R1-2-Cl, BB-R2-2-CF3, BB-R2-4-CF3, and JT-R3-3-OH demonstrated promising antimicrobial activity when compared to other synthetic compounds. These findings suggest that these pyrazoline derivatives have potential as effective antimicrobial agents, with further studies needed to assess their broad-spectrum efficacy. This research provides a promising foundation for optimizing these compounds in the development of treatments against multidrug-resistant pathogens.
