P. Subathiradevi*, S. Rajesh, A. Vignesh, V. Ramakrishnan, B. Loganathan and R. Sivaraj

ABSTRACT

Beyond basic nutrition, nutraceuticals - which are frequently obtained from natural sources - offer health benefits. Although studies have been conducted on the possible advantages of some substanceslike honey, garlic, ginger and turmeric in treating asthma symptoms and lowering inflammation. There isn't much scientific proof to back up their efficacy as stand-alone asthma treatments. The herb malabar nut, which is frequently used in traditional medicine, has been investigated for possible bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory properties. When taken as an adjuvant therapy in addition to conventional asthma therapies, malabar nut may help improve lung function and lessen symptoms of asthma, according to some research.Curcumin, an anti-inflammatory compound found in turmeric may help lessen asthmatic airway irritation. More research is required to demonstrate the effectiveness of garlic and ginger specifically for managing asthma, however they both have anti-inflammatory qualities and may help reduce asthma symptoms. Because of its calming qualities, honey is frequently used in traditional treatments for respiratory ailments. Although honey can alleviate asthmatic coughing, it shouldn't be used as the main asthma treatment. The fact that asthma is a chronic illness that needs to be properly managed by a doctor must be emphasized. Herbs and other natural therapies may help with asthma symptoms, but they shouldn't take the place of prescription asthma medications or medical advice from a healthcare provider. Before using any herbal remedies or supplements, especially if have asthma or any other medical problem, always get advice from a healthcare professional.
