METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION OF HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE AND LOSARTAN POTASSIUM IN BULK AND TABLET DOSAGE FORM

ABSTRACT

A simple, accurate, precise, economic, robust, rapid and efficient method and is cost effective for simultaneous estimation of Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan potassium in bulk and tablet dosage form by using UV-Spectroscopy. LOS and HCZ are used in combination for treatment of hypertension. The solvent was used for the determination of 0.1M NaOH, which is determined by Spectroscopically at 275nm for HCZ and 235nm for LOS. The linearity range is 3-15 μg/ml for both the drugs. The correlation coefficient found to be 0.9986 for HCZ and 0.997 for LOS. The % recovery was found to be within the range of 99-101% for both the drugs. The % Assay was found to be 97.92% and 99.4% for HCZ and LOS respectively. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines and can be employed for simultaneous estimation of both drugs in pharmaceutical formulations with no interference from any other excipients.
