Arella Madhulatha*, Vajiha Tabrez Siddiquee, Poojashree M. and Vinitha F.
ABSTRACT The discovery of nalidixic acid is important in medicinal chemistry, and has led to new research years ago that led to the discovery of many antibacterial drugs commonly known as fluoroquinolones. Although fluoroquinolones are frequently mentioned in the literature, the use of quinolone drugs continues far beyond fluoroquinolones. Quinolone-based compounds have been reported to have activity against malaria, tuberculosis, fungal and helminthic infections, etc. This article describes various quinolone pharmacophores as therapeutic agents relative to fluoroquinolones. Keywords: Quinolone ?Therapeutic agent ? Antimalarial ?Antibacterial ?Antitrypanosomal ?Antituberculosis. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
