ABSTRACT Background: Pneumothorax, characterized by air in the pleural space, can be classified into primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP), secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (SSP), and traumatic pneumothorax. The management of pneumothorax is critical, particularly in emergency settings, where early intervention can significantly affect outcomes. Aim: This article explores the collaborative roles of paramedics, pharmacists, and health informatics in optimizing pneumothorax management in emergency situations. Methods: A literature review was conducted to analyze current practices in pneumothorax management, focusing on prehospital interventions by paramedics, medication management by pharmacists, and the integration of health informatics in treatment protocols. Results: Effective pneumothorax management relies on rapid recognition and treatment. Paramedics are trained to perform life-saving interventions such as needle decompression, while pharmacists ensure optimal pharmacotherapy and preventive measures against complications. Health informatics facilitates timely communication and data sharing, improving patient care coordination. Conclusion: The collaborative approach involving paramedics, pharmacists, and health informatics is essential for enhancing pneumothorax management in emergency settings. This integration not only improves patient outcomes but also ensures continuity of care throughout the treatment process. Keywords: Pneumothorax, paramedics, pharmacists, health informatics, emergency management, spontaneous pneumothorax. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
