A RARE CASE REPORT ON PARAQUAT SYNDROME
Samera Fatima*, Umme Aiman Rafai, Syeda Nabeela Ruhi, Nabeela Fatima and Dr. Praveen Kumar Kulkarni
ABSTRACT A 24-year-old male with suspected paraquat poisoning presented with acute renal failure and elevated WBC. Initially managed in the ICU with ZOSTUM, NACFIL, and hemodialysis, he later developed dense lung consolidation, melena, and massive hematemesis. Consultations led to UGI endoscopy, revealing a Class III gastric injury. Following intensive care, blood transfusions, and gradual oral feeding, his condition improved. By 07/09/2023, he was stable with decreasing creatinine levels and no further bleeding, and was subsequently discharged to the ward. Keywords: Paraquat poisoning, Hemodialysis, Lungs and Toxins.
