Sarika P. V.*, Celestin Baboo R. V. and Sirajudheen M. K.
ABSTRACT In this study, Lepidagathis keralensis and Sargassum polycystum were collected, dried and identified. Later the plants were subjected to Soxhlet extraction using methanol, separately. Preliminary phytochemical screening of extracts of all the selected plants found contain Alkaloids, Carbohydrates, Flavonoids, Phenol, Saponin and Tannins. Quantitative determination shows the presence of alkaloids (0.1%), Tannin (0.3%) and Saponin (0.04%) phenol(0.09%), Steroids(0.03%) and Flavonoids (0.09%) are in Lepidagathis keralensis. Quantitative determination in Sargassum polycystum shows the presence of Phenol (0.09%), Flavonoids (0.09%) and Tannin (0.08%).In Spectral analysis, LC-MS of Lepidagathis keralensis was caried out and its phytochemicals where identified, the major constituents are Tetradecanoic acid, Phytyl acetate, phytol etc. LC-MS of Sargassum polycystum identified the Phytochemicals like gallic acid, 2-Furoic acid, fucoidan. Keywords: Lepidagathis keralensis, Sargassum polycystum, Alkaloid, Phenols, Flavonoids, Tannins, LC-MS. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
