Namrata Vishwakarma*, Umesh K. Atneriya, Komal Tikariya and Dr. Dharmendra Solanki

ABSTRACT

The objective of the study is to formulate Transferosomal Gel of Econazole an antifungal drug to improve the efficacy and patient compliance. In the present work, an attempt is made to develop Transferosomal Gel of Econazole with the use of cholesterol, soyabean lecithin, sodium cholate, span 80, Brij 35. Transferosomes formulations were prepared by a thin film hydration method The formulated transferosomal gel of econazole was evaluated for different parameters: Apperance, Viscosity, Homogeneity, zeta potential, particle size, Percentage of drug content, pH, Entrapment efficiency, in vitro drug release and Stability study. Based on this physiochemical characterization in vitro drug release studies of the formula TF4 showed significant high percent encapsulation entrapment and good release pattern. More than 80% of the drug content of all the preparedvesicles was released after 6 hours. As predicted, formulation of Econazole Nitrate as transfersome led to a controlled release rate because of reservoir effect of transferosome.

Keywords: Transferosomal Gel, Econazole, Percentage of drug content, antifungal drug, In-vitro drug release.
