NON SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF DUSHT VRANA W.S.R. TO VENOUS ULCER: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT The break or discontinuity in the body tissue is called vrana. Caused by Trauma, Infection & Chronic Mechanical Stress. A healthy wound heals earlier as compared to a contaminated one. Factors that might cause a wound to take longer to heal are slough, foreign body etc. whereas in general include improper nutrition, diabetes, long term consumption of steroids and cytotoxic drugs. Factors needed for wound healing include proper vascular supply, healthy wound bed and adequate moisture. Therefore it is important to keep a wound clean and healthy during the various stages of wound healing. Non healing ulcers are the most common problem encountering today. Dusht Vrana is a chronic ulcer, mostly unresponsive to any treatment. Acharya Sushruta has described sixty methods for treating such vranas.
