Mayuri B. Gire*, P. K. Rawal, Sunita Shiraguppi and Dr. Reeta Vajramatti

ABSTRACT

RPL is defined as two or more failed clinical pregnancies as confirmed by sonography or histopathology. Because the etiology cannot be clearly defined in the majority of patients, it is one of the most difficult and complex areas of medicine to deal with for both doctors and patients. Recurrent Pregnancy Loss is caused by a combination of genetic, endocrine, anatomic, environmental, and immunological factors. Because this is a multifactorial entity and it is difficult to pinpoint a specific etiology or pathology in the majority of cases, a thorough and detailed history must be taken, as well as any necessary investigations. Treatment primarily aims to correct the cause, and in couples with unknown causes, psychological support combined with counseling will improve the outcome. Based on clinical features, recurrent pregnancy loss in Ayurveda can be correlated withGarbhasravi vandhya mentioned in Harita samhitha and Putraghni yonivyapad explained in bruhatrayas. In cases of recurrent miscarriage with unknown etiology, Ayurveda recommends Shodhana therapy followed by uttarvasti. Acharya Harita and Acharya Charaka defined Garbhasravi vandhya and Putragni yonivapad as pregnancy losses in the first trimester, respectively. According to Sushruta, in this condition, the foetuses are repeatedly destroyed after achieving stability due to bleeding, indicating second trimester abortions. Finally, both Garbhasravi vandhya and Puthraghni yonivyapath can be regarded as Recurrent Pregnancy Loss as defined by modern science.
