OCIMUM BASILICUM: A REVIEW ON PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL STUDIES

ABSTRACT Ocimum basilicum is a common herb noted for its decorative and medicinal properties. The identified plant ingredients include terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponin glycosides, and ascorbic acid. It has been shown to have hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, antihyperglycemic, hypolipidemic, antitoxic, anti- inflammatory, and antibacterial/fungal properties.
