GHANAVATI KALPNA: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT Bhaishajya Kalpana is the branch of Ayurveda which primarily deals with different kinds of dosage forms & their therapeutic utility. The branch which deals with the various forms of medicine such Swaras - The expressed juice, Kalka-a fine paste, Kwatha- the decoction, Sheeta or Heema - The cold water infusion and Phanta - the hot water infusion all this form included in Panchvidhkashaya kalpana. Ghana Kalpana is the modified form of Kwath Kalpana and is an exclusive contribution of ayurvedic science. Different varieties of Ghana are mentioned in various ayurvedic classics & they are most accepted varieties of ayurvedic dosage forms due to its easy administration, palatability & long shelf life.
