ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus is a long-term metabolic condition characterized by high blood sugar levels due to problems with insulin secretion, action, or both. It is often linked with other health issues that can make it harder to treat and compact the patient’s well-being. These associated conditions include heart diseases like high blood pressure and blocked arteries, kidney problems like diabetic kidney disease, and nerve issues like peripheral and autonomic neuropathy. Diabetic eye problems, liver issues, mental health challenges, and cognitive impairments are also common in diabetic patients. Additionally, obesity, high cholesterol, various skin problems, digestive disorders, and bone and joint issues tend to occur alongside diabetes. Recognizing and addressing these related health issues is crucial for effectively managing diabetes and enhancing the quality of life these for those affected. Purpose of reviewThe review aims to highlight the comorbid conditions associated with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It explains the complications associated with type 2 DM and explains the impact of type 2 DM in various comorbid conditions.
