ABSTRACT The research aims to synthesize novel derivatives of gallic acid to improve its ROS inhibiting potential and antidepressant effect. The preliminary object of this research work was to derivatize gallic acid to aminohydroxypropyloxy derivative and assess the antioxidant and antidepressant potential of the compounds. The synthesis of the target compounds was accomplished by reaction of epichlorhydrin with gallic acid to form a reactive epoxy intermediate followed by amination in order to obtain the desired product. The results obtained from the physicochemical studies, the structure elucidation and the pharmacological screening for antioxidant and antidepressants activity in vitro. Keywords: aminohydroxypropyloxy, antioxidant, antidepressants, gallic acid, amination. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
