ABSTRACT Nanotechnology is a cutting-edge and emerging field with extensive applications across various sectors, including energy, electronics, cosmetics, textiles, medicine, agriculture, and the environment. In India, both scientific and economic progress has been notable since independence, and nanotechnology has played a crucial role in bridging technological gaps, influencing various aspects of the economy such as wages, employment, market currencies, exchange rates, supply and demand. The industrial revolution, which began in the 16th century, drastically transformed the global economy. Today, energy resources and manufacturing are critical to economic development and technological advancement. The innovations brought about by nanotechnology are poised to further revolutionize the economy, potentially improving the conditions of economicallydisadvantaged populations. This shift could represent the "industrial revolution," with nanotechnology driving significant economic progress over the next decade. However, the potential for toxicity associated with nanotechnology poses risks to the environment and living organisms. Additionally, there are ethical considerations that need to be addressed. Public awareness about these issues is essential. This review aims to explore the impact of nanotechnology across different industries and its role in ushering in a new era of economic and technological development, ultimately paving the way for a better future for the next generation.
