Abstract

CASE STUDY ON – AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF JALODARA

ABSTRACT

In the present case study, a 37 years old male patient came with the Complaints of abdominal distension, bipedal edema, anorexia, general weakness in the past 4 months. swelling in face, yellowish discoloration of eyes and skin with breathing difficulty in the past 2 months. Based on clinical signs and symptoms patient was diagnosed with Jalodara. Patient was intended to treat with Ayurvedic line of treatment. Jalodara is one of the Udara Roga which falls under Mahagada being involved of Tridosha with dominance of Vata. The patient become non response to allopathy medicines hence came to Ayurvedic management. Various Ayurvedic treatments modalities are currently in practice with a better outcome. The present case was treated with Nitya Virechana with Gomutra Hareetaki and Ayurvedic Shamana Chikitsa as well as restricted diet plan for 3 months with cow milk and the same continued at different intervals for a period of three months with periodic follow ups. Patient's condition was assessed for improvement in clinical signs and symptoms of Jalodara (Ascitis) with maintenance of blood reports, Anthropometry measures and photographic evidence. This study showed encouraging results, so that Ascitis can be successfully managed with Ayurvedic treatment protocol alone.
